WHAT WE DO
Mentoring
Our primary mission is to work with elementary school students in higher need areas to make writing fun by helping them develop their own school newspaper.
Guidance
We provide editorial guidelines and email assistance to elementary schools in other areas to help them start their own school newspaper.
Workshops
We give free writing workshops to students at local schools, at the Boys & Girls Clubs of LA Harbor, and to students through the Palos Verdes Library District, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, and the Lawndale Library.

HOW WE DO IT
Students
We are students in the Los Angeles area. We were started by the former editors of one of the few student-run elementary school newspapers in Los Angeles County.
Advisors
We are supervised by parent volunteers and volunteer educators, and each school mentoring is overseen by either teachers or afterschool staff. Mentorings at other institutions are overseen by staff at those institutions, as well as PressFriends parents.
Community Partners
PressFriends is under the fiscal sponsorship of Community Partners, a 501(c)(3). Our board acts in an advisory capacity to Community Partners.
